At a meeting with senior officials from various line ministries today in New Delhi, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal, reviewed the progress made by the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.
The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) has been a transformative method to integrated planning and coordinated infrastructure project development since its inception in October 2021. The National Master Plan successfully incorporated more than 1900 GIS data layers for the infrastructure mapping of various Ministries and State Governments by using a "whole of the government approach." The NMP has successfully accelerated numerous projects that had previously stalled over the past year.
He was pleased with the progress made by the federal government and the states in increasing their use of the National Master Plan, particularly for the planning of vital infrastructure. To increase the use of PM GatiShakti by various line ministries, departments, and states, the minister asked for additional training and capacity building.
Additionally, he requested that ministries give priority to closing important infrastructure gaps and concentrate on the development of strategic regions, particularly industrial clusters that can serve as economic growth engines.
