The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is set to deploy an advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-driven system to streamline and modernise real estate approval processes in the city. The initiative aims to significantly reduce administrative delays by automating key aspects of project clearances and minimising manual intervention. By integrating AI into the approval workflow, the civic body seeks to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and ensure faster decision-making, thereby creating a more developer-friendly environment. This move aligns with Mumbai’s broader push towards digital governance and ease of doing business, especially in the real estate and construction sector, where delays in approvals have historically impacted project timelines.

The proposed system is expected to overhaul existing processes by leveraging data-driven analysis and intelligent automation to expedite review processes and compliance checks. Officials have indicated that the technology will help rationalise procedures, eliminate redundancies, and enable quicker turnaround times for approvals. The initiative also reflects a strategic effort to modernise urban governance through innovation, positioning Mumbai as a more efficient and globally competitive real estate market. By reducing human interface and improving procedural clarity, the AI-based system is anticipated to boost investor confidence and support sustained growth in the city’s infrastructure and housing sectors.
