Mumbai has emerged as the leading region for non-tech sectors hiring tech talent, according to a report by Naukri.com. The city saw a 17% increase in tech recruitment in October FY24, followed by Delhi/NCR at 12%, Chennai at 9%, Hyderabad at 8%, and Bangalore at 5%. The oil and gas sector recorded double-digit growth in engineering roles, with a 25% rise in October. Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) and retail sectors also showed strong growth, with YoY increases of 12% and 18%, respectively, highlighting a cross-sector demand for technological expertise.
The auto and auto ancillary sector, traditionally slower to adopt technology, saw an 8% growth in tech roles in Q2. In comparison, the medical and healthcare industries experienced a 10% rise in engineering positions. This growing demand for tech professionals across diverse industries reflects a transformative shift in employment dynamics as organisations increasingly integrate technology into their core operations. The trend presents an opportunity for companies to adjust their hiring strategies and invest in upskilling and reskilling programs to build a workforce prepared for a tech-driven future.
