National AI Skilling Initiative Records 60,253 Enrolments in Phase I; IICT and Private Sector Partners have Jointly Developed Curriculum to Equip Students with Industry-Relevant AI Skills

The National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skilling Initiative has received 60,253 enrolments under Phase I, with the programme aimed at strengthening AI literacy and equipping students with industry-relevant digital skills. Of the enrolled participants, 4,620 have completed two modules, while 552 have completed all four modules of Phase I. The first phase comprises four modules with a total duration of 33 hours, delivered through two learning platforms. The curriculum covers AI Essentials, which focuses on practical AI applications for productivity, data synthesis and content creation; Prompting Essentials, which develops professional prompt-writing skills; Introduction to Generative AI, covering large language model fundamentals and responsible AI practices; and Generative AI Leader, which focuses on workflow automation and strategic generative AI adoption.

The curriculum has been jointly designed and developed by the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and private sector partners to provide foundational and practical AI skills. The advanced skilling component is conducted by IICT and includes joint certification, while the Government is providing strategic direction and facilitating implementation through IICT. Phase II details, including its curriculum, modules and course duration, are currently under finalisation. The initiative is expected to strengthen AI capabilities among students and support the development of a digitally skilled workforce aligned with evolving industry requirements. The programme also reflects the Government’s focus on expanding AI education and practical digital skills through collaboration between public institutions and the private sector.
