Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, announced that 45 international capacity-building programmes for the training of 1,750 international civil servants have been planned for the year 2023-24.
Dr. Jitendra Singh stated in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has authorised a sum of Rs. 17,60,26,500 (US$ 2,128,653.26) for the capacity-building of 1,425 international civil servants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Gambia, as well as for multi-country courses for African Countries, the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and Latin American Countries (LAC) region including one e- Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) course on “special programme on emerging governance practices”.
He added that National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) has been training civil servants from different countries.
As of July 2023, in FY24, an amount of Rs. 6,13,67,500 (US$ 742,104.90) has been sanctioned.
The number of participants to whom training has been imparted include 2,099 from Bangladesh, 818 from Maldives, Myanmar (97), Gambia (49), 19 from Other African Countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Seychelles), and 30 from Cambodia.
