Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Mr. Piyush Goyal emphasised the importance of using modern technology and innovative agronomy to boost cotton yield. He stated that the availability of excellent quality seeds is a critical requirement for enhancing cotton output.

He urged all stakeholders, including the government, research institutes, and industry, to focus on measures to increase cotton productivity through specific outcome-oriented initiatives. He also instructed his ministry, textile commissioner, CCI, and TAG to cooperate with MCX/SEBI and establish structured contract solutions for delivery-based contracts and open position restrictions on commodity exchange MCX. On the advice of the industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal asked the textile commissioner to use the penal provisions of the Collection of Data Act for compliance in order to ensure the accuracy of statistics across the value chain. He requested that the textile commissioner use CCI workers to collect data from the ginning section under the Collection of Statistics Act.

He also requested that the Cotton Corporation of India, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), provide agricultural extension services to farmers through its network of branches throughout India. The textile value chain in the nation has to increase traceability technology and testing facilities, according to the ministry.
