India has launched a new repository called India’s AI Impact Startups, which was announced at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The repository maps more than 110 startups and non-profits that are using artificial intelligence to develop solutions to address societal and economic challenges at the population scale. The initiative was released jointly by IndiaAI and Kalpa Impact, and it provides information on the latest innovations in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, education, climate, finance, mobility, and service delivery, among others. The initiative was created to provide the first-ever structured map of the AI for Impact ecosystem in India and to show the potential of localized AI, voice, and vernacular interfaces to deliver inclusive digital growth in underserved communities in the country and beyond. The AI Impact Startups in India have been recognized for their contributions to the development of the digital ecosystem in the country and have been acknowledged for their potential to deliver solutions to real-world challenges, thus demonstrating the maturity and global relevance of the AI ecosystem in the country.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the repository provides a strategic reference point for policymakers, investors, and the industry at large, and it has been designed to provide insights into the integration-ready AI solutions that have demonstrated their scalability in real-world scenarios. The Ministry stated that the AI ecosystem in India has demonstrated maturity, with the solutions that have been developed and implemented to serve millions of people in the country, and that the insights from the compendium provide evidence of the rapid growth in the number of made-in-India foundation models, edge AI, and multilingual voice bots that have been tailored to meet the specific needs of the people in the country.
