Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of cooperation, dialogue and knowledge-sharing among states while chairing the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, stating that the institution can serve as a key platform for collaboration in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Highlighting the principles of cooperative federalism, he noted that the combined efforts of the Centre and states would play a crucial role in accelerating India’s development journey. Despite global economic uncertainties, India continues to maintain strong growth momentum and is progressing steadily towards its long-term development goals. The Prime Minister also highlighted the opportunities arising from India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), which are creating new avenues for exports, investments and economic growth. He noted that these agreements offer significant opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to expand their global presence by enhancing competitiveness and meeting international standards.
The Prime Minister further underscored the importance of leveraging India’s demographic dividend through investments in education, skill development and employment generation. He stressed that empowering youth through quality education and demand-driven skilling would be essential for sustaining long-term growth and innovation. The meeting also highlighted the growing contribution of women across sectors such as agriculture, entrepreneurship, science and innovation, reinforcing the importance of women-led development in India’s growth story. The discussions reaffirmed the need for collaborative policymaking, sharing of best practices and coordinated action between the Centre and states to strengthen governance, drive economic progress and realise the goal of a developed India by 2047.
