According to the Centre, the number of PM-KISAN beneficiaries has surpassed 10 crore, up from 3.16 crore farmers who received payments during the first instalment period in early 2019.

The Center offers an income support of Rs. 6,000 (US$ 73.45) per year in three equal instalments to every land-holding farmer households under the scheme, which was announced in February 2019 but became effective from December 2018.

Beneficiaries' bank accounts are receiving a direct deposit of the funds. Twelve instalments of funding under the scheme have already been released by the Center.

The plan defines a family as a husband, a wife, and minor children. The farmer families who are qualified for assistance under the program's rules are identified by the state government or the relevant UT administration. Higher socioeconomic class groups are not included in the plan.
