Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban is into implementation to pursue the Government’s vision of ‘Housing for All’ by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs since 25th June 2015 for giving Central assistance to States/ Union Territories (UTs) for providing all-weather pucca houses to all eligible urban households.
Under the following four verticals of the Scheme, Central Government provides different levels of non-refundable financial assistance:

Under the ISSR, AHP and BLC verticals of the scheme, States/ UTs also provide different levels of financial assistance to the beneficiaries.
During 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, the details of state/ UT-wise of the total number of houses constructed for poor under PMAY-U are at the Annexure.
The assessed demand of houses under the scheme, 114 lakh (11.4 million) houses have been sanctioned across the country, based on the project proposals submitted by the States/ UTs. 89.36 lakh (8.936 million) have been grounded for construction and 52.55 lakh (5.255 million) have been completed and delivered to beneficiaries, against the total sanctioned houses. The scheme will be implemented up to 31st March 2022. It has been advised to the States/ UTs to expedite the construction of sanctioned houses so that all houses are completed within the stipulated period.
Amounting to Rs. 87,698 crore (US$ 11.6 billion) central assistance was released during 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 for construction of houses under the scheme, out of which Rs. 80,475 (US$ 10.6 billion) have been utilized by the States/ UTs.
