Over 1,100 projects completed under Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), benefiting 34 lakh farmers across India

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing the Central Sector Umbrella Scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) to support the holistic development of India’s food processing sector. The scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a grant-in-aid to eligible organisations, entrepreneurs, and entities for setting up modern food processing and preservation infrastructure. Key objectives include reducing post-harvest losses, enhancing value addition, increasing processing levels, improving farmer income, generating employment, and boosting exports of processed foods. As of June 30, 2025, 1,601 projects have been approved under PMKSY, of which 1,133 have been completed. These projects have generated 256 lakh metric tonnes per annum of processing and preservation capacity and have benefitted 34.15 lakh farmers, while creating employment for over 4.33 lakh individuals.

States such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh have emerged as leading beneficiaries, with Maharashtra alone implementing 245 projects and reaching over 6.43 lakh farmers. The Ministry ensures proper implementation of the scheme through regular monitoring by Project Management Agencies (PMAs) and site inspections. Where necessary, MoFPI coordinates with State and Union Territory governments to address implementation issues. The scheme has been instrumental in building robust supply chains from farm gate to retail, minimising agri-waste, and accelerating rural economic development. The information was shared by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Mr. Ravneet Singh, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
