Over 10,000 km of national high-speed corridors awarded; 4,809 km completed

The Government of India has awarded 10,389 km of National High-Speed Corridors across the country, of which 4,809 km have been completed while 5,580 km are under implementation, according to information shared in Parliament by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Mr. Nitin Gadkari. The ministry stated that a robust monitoring framework has been established to regularly review the progress of National High-Speed Corridors and Greenfield Expressways at the project, state and central levels in coordination with state governments and other stakeholders. Technology-driven platforms, including the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal, are being utilised to identify and resolve project-level bottlenecks. Rajasthan leads in completed corridor length with 1,192 km completed out of 1,340 km awarded, followed by Haryana with 615 km and Gujarat with 605 km.
To accelerate project execution, the government has introduced several reforms, including faster land acquisition through the Bhoomirashi portal and GIS-based land acquisition plans, streamlined environmental and forest clearances via the revamped Parivesh portal, and online approvals for Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) in coordination with the Railways. The ministry also announced the sanction of a 32-km, four-lane access-controlled highway connecting Vadhavan Port with the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway and NH-48 at an estimated cost of Rs. 4,362.39 crore (US$ 452.46 million) under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode, with the project already awarded for implementation. These initiatives are expected to strengthen multimodal connectivity, improve logistics efficiency, facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers, and support India's long-term infrastructure development and economic growth.
