The Udyam platform has recorded more than 3.07 crore women-led enterprises, which have been established as of February 28, 2026, according to data from the Indian government. In a written response to the Rajya Sabha Minister of State for MSME, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje disclosed that 3,07,42,621 women-led enterprises have been registered on the Udyam Registration Portal and the Udyam Assist Platform. The Udyam system provides a streamlined process for MSME entities to achieve official registration while enabling them to gain access to state programs, financial assistance, and business development opportunities. The rise in women-owned businesses demonstrates that women are increasingly participating in entrepreneurship while small businesses throughout the nation are moving toward official recognition. The government uses simplified digital registration together with policy assistance to create an environment that supports women entrepreneurs who want to start and grow their businesses in the MSME sector.
The government has implemented programs that help women gain access to financing, education, and market connections to improve their participation in the industry. The Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, which operates through the Credit Guarantee Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), allows banks and financial institutions to issue loans without needing collateral or third-party guarantees. Women-led enterprises receive enhanced credit guarantee coverage of up to 90%, compared with 75% for other enterprises, along with a 10% relaxation in the guaranteed fee. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which provides training, stipends, and guidance on entrepreneurship and financial literacy and digital literacy for artisans and craftspeople, helps develop skills and support entrepreneurial activities. The Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) enables cluster-based development by funding capacity-building initiatives, product design assistance, technology upgrades, and digital marketing training to help traditional industries and women-owned businesses grow.
