According to the HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2023, more than 52% of Indian gamers are now considering gaming a viable career choice, since gamer salaries have gradually improved in 2023 as compared to 2022.
Around 40% of serious gamers claimed to earn between Rs. 6 lakh (US$ 7,198.42) and Rs. 12 lakh (US$ 14,396.83) per year in 2023.
According to the research, sponsorships and e-sports competitions have emerged as substantial revenue generators.
According to the Senior Director, Personal Systems, HP India market, Mr. Vickram Bedi, "We believe that Indian youth has the potential to not only make it big at global e-sports arena but also to tap on entrepreneurial opportunities in the industry. We, at HP, are introducing initiatives like HP Gaming Garage to help them grow and inspire the budding gamers”.
The company has launched the HP Gaming Garage, a free online professional qualification programme on Esports management and game development.
