Over 60,000 houses approved for construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

At the 58th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC), proposals for more than 60,000 houses in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan were authorised for construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

The Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs also reviewed concerns such as grounding and house construction in various states under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). He examined the pace at which houses are being built in different states and urged officials to speed up the process while also evaluating beneficiary allotment and completion of Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) projects in their respective areas.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) overall investment is Rs 7.52 lakh crore (US$ 99.90 billion), with Rs 1.87 lakh crore (US$ 24.84 billion) in central aid. The total number of houses sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAYU) is 114.04 lakh (11.4 million), with roughly 93.25 lakh (9.32 million) are under construction and around 54.78 lakh (5.47 million) are constructed and delivered to beneficiaries.
