Over 600 Internet Experts, Policymakers Gather in Mumbai for APNIC 62

More than 600 Internet experts, policymakers, network operators and technology leaders have gathered in Mumbai for the 62nd APNIC Conference (APNIC 62), being held from 4 to 10 September, hosted by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI), with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Maharashtra government. Organised by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the region's not-for-profit Internet number registry, the conference brings together technical experts and policymakers to discuss challenges shaping the future of the Internet, including AI-powered services, network automation, cybersecurity, routing security and Internet governance. Mr. Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, said the conference provides an important platform for India to engage with the Asia Pacific technical community, with MeitY Secretary Mr. S. Krishnan and Maharashtra Chief Secretary Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal among the attendees.

APNIC Director General Mr. Jia Rong Low said APNIC 62 aims to turn shared expertise into practical action for a more secure and scalable Internet, also highlighting India's progress in IPv6 adoption. NIXI CEO Mr. Devesh Tyagi said the event is an opportunity to share India's experience and strengthen regional cooperation, while ISPAI President Mr. Rajesh Chharia noted that Internet service providers are at the forefront of meeting growing connectivity demand. On 8th September, NIXI and APNIC are set to sign a memorandum of understanding on deploying key Internet infrastructure technologies, including IPv6 and routing security, to strengthen India's Internet infrastructure. APNIC manages critical Internet number resources across 56 economies in the Asia Pacific region.
