Over one crore farmers have benefitted with the ongoing paddy procurement

Over one crore farmers have benefitted from the paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2022-23 (Kharif crop). Around 713 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy has been procured up to March 1, 2023 and the minimum support price (MSP) outflow of US$ 17.75 billion (Rs.146,960 crores) has been transferred directly into the farmers’ account.

All the arrangements are in place, and the rice delivery against the procured paddy is also in progress. As compared with 713 LMT of paddy procurement, around 246 LMT of rice has been received in the Central pool as of March 1, 2023. Further, adequate rice stock is also available in the Central pool to meet the country’s requirements.

In the current KMS 2022-23 for the kharif crop, a quantity of about 766 LMT paddy has been estimated to be procured. On the other hand, for rabi crop of the current KMS 2022-23, a quantity of about 158 LMT paddy has been estimated to be procured.
