Passenger vehicle dispatches jump 34.3% YoY to 4,57,810 units in July: SIAM

Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers increased 34.3% year-on-year to 4,57,810 units in July 2026, compared with 3,40,772 units in July 2025, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The strong performance reflects sustained demand across India’s automotive market as the industry enters the festive season. Two-wheeler sales also recorded robust growth, rising 22.6% to 19,23,483 units in July 2026, from 15,69,120 units in the corresponding month last year. Three-wheeler dispatches increased 33.4% to 92,560 units, compared with 69,403 units in July 2025. The broad-based growth across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers indicates continued momentum in domestic automobile demand, supported by improving consumer sentiment and expectations of stronger festive-season sales.
The passenger vehicle segment is also expected to maintain its growth trajectory over the medium term, supported by demand for small cars and sport utility vehicles (SUVs). Maruti Suzuki expects India’s passenger vehicle market to reach 6.1–6.3 million units annually over the next five years, compared with 4.64 million units sold in FY26, representing an increase of about one-third. The expected expansion is being supported by a revival in demand for small cars and continued traction for SUVs. The latest July performance, combined with expectations of stronger festive-season demand, points to a positive outlook for India’s automotive industry. Continued growth across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers is expected to support manufacturing activity, dealer networks, supply chains and employment across the wider automotive ecosystem.
