PM hails Government e-Marketplace achieving order value of Rs 1 trn in a yr

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform was created in August 2016 allowing all central government ministries and departments to purchase products and services online. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi praised the government procurement web Government e-Marketplace on Thursday for obtaining an order value of Rs 1 lakh crore (US$ 13.08 billion) in a single year, saying the platform is particularly beneficial to small and medium-sized businesses. The MSME sector accounts for 57% of order value.
