Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi stated on Friday that India and Sweden can strengthen their collaboration in a number of areas, including smart cities, e-mobility, smart grids, and waste management, as well as main priority areas which include climate change.
Mr. Modi said, "We can strengthen our partnership in terms of innovation, technology, finance, start-ups, and science.”
According to the prime minister, shared principles such as democracy, human rights, rule of law, equality, independence, and justice, improve India-Sweden ties and cooperation.
He said, “We can strengthen our collaboration in smart cities, water treatment, waste management, circular economy, smart grids, e-mobility, and digital transformation.”
Mr. Modi further stated that the critical area of climate change is a main priority for both countries, and we could collaborate on this area.
The significance of living in harmony with nature has always been emphasized in Indian culture. We are following through with our Paris Agreement commitments.
He said, “We will not only meet, but also surpass, these goals. India has made significant progress against its goals among the G20 countries. Our renewable energy capacity has grown by 162% in the last five years.”
He added, “When the world was combating the COVID-19 pandemic, India supplied medicines and other important products to more than 150 countries.”
