Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi highlighted the transformative impact of the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, emphasising its role in strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship and accelerating the growth of India's micro food processing sector. Sharing an article by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Mr. Chirag Paswan, the Prime Minister noted that the scheme is formalising micro food processing enterprises by providing affordable credit, technology support, branding assistance and market linkages. These interventions are enabling local producers to evolve into successful entrepreneurs, generate employment opportunities and contribute to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The initiative is also fostering value addition in agricultural produce while enhancing the competitiveness of rural food processing enterprises across the country.

According to Mr. Chirag Paswan, the PMFME Scheme has achieved a significant milestone by crossing 2 lakh credit sanctions, reflecting the Government's continued commitment to strengthening the micro food processing ecosystem. The scheme has played a key role in promoting women-led enterprises, expanding livelihood opportunities and supporting the formalisation of small food processing units in rural and semi-urban areas. By improving access to finance, modern technology and organised markets, the initiative is enhancing productivity, encouraging entrepreneurship and strengthening local value chains. The continued expansion of the PMFME Scheme is expected to improve income generation, promote inclusive economic development, encourage greater private participation in the food processing sector and reinforce India's position as a leading destination for value-added food production and agro-based industries.
