Power PSUs Capital Expenditure Rises 47% to Rs 40,395 crore

Capital expenditure by Central Public Sector Enterprises under the Ministry of Power surged by 47% in the first nine months of this fiscal year to Rs 40395.34 crore (US$ 5.42 billion), compared to the same time in 2020-21.

For the financial year 2021-22, the Ministry of Power's overall capital expenditure (capex) target for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) is Rs 50,690.52 crores (US$ 6.8 billion). CPSEs jointly met 80% of the 2021-22 capex target in the first nine months (April-December 2021), according to a statement released by the Ministry of Power.

PowerGrid Corporation (90.6%), Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (90.19%), National Thermal Electricity Corporation (86.5%), and THDC India Limited (85.38%) are the best-performing CPSEs in the power sector.

"The Ministry of Power has laid a strong emphasis on accelerating the pace the capital expenditure of the power sector projects. Regular monitoring and reviews are held to resolve issues hindering the implementation of the projects," the statement said.
