Over the last decade, PRAGATI has become a cornerstone of India's governance transformation through its real-time, outcome-oriented oversight mechanism over critical infrastructure and development projects. Launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the platform has so far fast-tracked projects worth over Rs. 85 lakh crore (US$ 955 billion) through its structured review and coordinated follow-up amongst Central ministries and State governments. Under PRAGATI, 382 major national projects were followed up on, and out of 3,187 problems that came up, 2,958 have been resolved so far. This has significantly reduced delays and cost overruns. The mechanism institutionalizes cohesive cooperative federalism using advanced technologies like digital data management, geo-spatial tools, and video conferencing. All these enable quick interventions whenever any bottlenecks arise. PRAGATI institutionalises cooperative federalism whereby decisions are time-bound, transparent, and accountable, unlocking long-pending initiatives such as the Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge, Navi Mumbai International Airport, and modernisation of Bhilai Steel Plant.
Beyond infrastructure, PRAGATI's impact is sensed in social schemes and citizen-centric grievances, reinforcing delivery excellence and governance responsiveness. Issues escalated for quick resolution through its structured multi-tier follow-up mechanism keep implementation momentum uninterrupted. At the 50th high-level review meeting of the platform, five critical projects of more than Rs. 40,000 crore (US$ 4.49 billion) were reviewed, marking the pivotal role PRAGATI has been playing in fast-tracking developmental outcomes and improving the quality of life across states.
