Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Mr. Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft at TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) Campus in Vadodara, Gujarat. The event marked Spanish Prime Minister Mr. Pedro Sanchez’s first visit to India, highlighting the evolving partnership between the two nations. During his address, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi emphasised that the complex would strengthen bilateral relations and advance the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative. He also paid tribute to the late Mr. Ratan Tata. He noted that the facility, which will manufacture 40 C-295 aircraft, reflects the new work culture in India, capable of rapid execution from idea to implementation.
Highlighting the strategic decisions made over the past decade to enhance India's defence manufacturing capabilities, he stated that the country has significantly increased its defence exports, which have risen 30 times, now supplying over 100 nations. He underlined the importance of skilling and job creation, noting that the Airbus-TATA factory would create thousands of jobs and support the indigenous production of 18,000 aircraft parts. He expressed confidence that this initiative would pave the way for India to become a major hub for aviation manufacturing. In addition, he welcomed the cultural ties between India and Spain, announcing the celebration of 2026 as the India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism, and Artificial Intelligence, and encouraged collaboration between the two countries' industries for mutual development.
