According to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, India should strive to rank among the top three Artificial Intelligence (AI) superpowers globally by 2047, while making sure that the technology stays inclusive and focused on people. He emphasized that India's strategy must concentrate on augmenting human capabilities rather than replacing them, highlighting AI as a transformative force. The Prime Minister pointed out that the use of AI is growing quickly in important fields like healthcare, education, agriculture, and government, enhancing productivity and service provision. He also emphasized that, with the help of its robust talent pool, developing start-up ecosystem, and growing digital infrastructure, India must transition from being a consumer of AI technologies to a global developer of domestic AI solutions.
Through policy frameworks and extensive skilling initiatives, the government is addressing issues like bias, ethical concerns, and potential job disruptions to prioritize responsible AI development. Mr. Narendra Modi emphasized how India's AI ecosystem is being strengthened by investments in digital public infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies, which promote innovation and increased accessibility. To create fair AI governance standards and protect national interests, he also emphasized the significance of international cooperation. AI is anticipated to be crucial to realizing India's goal of becoming a developed economy by 2047, establishing the nation as a major player in the global digital landscape, if policy support is maintained, industry participation rises, and innovation-led growth is prioritized.
