Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, while addressing Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (BRICS) Summit Outreach Session on 'Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs and artificial intelligence (AI) ', underscored India’s commitment to harnessing AI as a tool to augment human values and societal capabilities. He advocated for balanced global governance in AI, one that simultaneously fosters innovation and addresses ethical risks, biases, and authenticity issues. Emphasising India's inclusive vision under the motto ‘AI for All,’ he highlighted AI’s transformative role across agriculture, healthcare, education, and governance in India. He announced that India would host an ‘AI Impact Summit’ in 2026, inviting BRICS nations to collaborate in developing responsible AI frameworks and international standards that ensure transparency and prevent misuse of digital content.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi also reaffirmed BRICS’ growing relevance in a shifting world order marked by uncertainty. He proposed a series of initiatives to enhance BRICS cooperation, including the establishment of a BRICS Science and Research Repository and strengthening the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform hosted in India. He called for resilient and fair critical mineral supply chains and urged the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) to adopt a demand-driven and sustainable financial approach. He also stressed the importance of BRICS acting as a catalyst for multipolar global governance and inclusive growth.
