The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, praised the revamped hiring process on May 16, 2023, pointing to its success in eliminating corruption and nepotism. While addressing the National Rozgar Mela virtually, he distributed about 71,000 appointment letters to the newly recruited government employees.
In his speech, the Prime Minister wished the new recruits and their families well and reaffirmed the commitment of the government to youth empowerment and transparent recruitment.
Mr. Narendra Modi emphasised that over the previous nine years, US$ 420 billion (Rs. 34 trillion) had been invested in capital expenditure and fundamental infrastructure as a result of employment-focused initiatives. US$ 120 billion (Rs. 10 trillion) have been set aside for capital expenditures in this year's budget, which will encourage the construction of cutting-edge infrastructure and many new job opportunities.
As important factors in the creation of jobs, he mentioned developments like the electrification of 40,000 km of train lines, growth in the metro rail system, and improved connection in rural areas. The robust startup ecosystem, export potential, and foreign investment were also mentioned as factors in the booming job market. He further emphasised the government's dedication to skill development through programmes like the online learning portal iGoT Karmayogi.
