Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, in a virtual address at the Rozgar Mela on July 13, 2025, emphasised his government’s commitment to employment generation across the public and private sectors. Over 51,000 new appointment letters were distributed at the event, taking the total under the Rozgar Mela initiative to over 10 lakhs. He highlighted the employment created by welfare initiatives such as building over four crore houses, providing over 10 crore LPG connections, and the rooftop solar programme. He said these schemes, alongside growth in the manufacturing sector, have directly contributed to improved livelihoods. Referencing an International Labour Organization report, he noted that over 90 crore people benefited from government schemes in the last decade. India’s Gini index reflects high equality levels, underscoring the pro-people impact of these initiatives, he added.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi also cited India's global recognition for its demographic strength and democratic values. Agreements signed during his recent five-nation tour in sectors such as defence, energy, pharmaceuticals, and rare earth minerals are expected to boost job creation. He highlighted the Rs. 11,00,000 crore (US$ 127.86 billion) growth in electronics manufacturing and a rise in mobile manufacturing units from just two to four to nearly 300. Defence production has surpassed Rs. 1,25,000 crore (US$ 14.53 billion), and the automobile sector has attracted Rs. 3,44,120 crore (US$ 40 billion) in foreign direct investment (FDI) over the past five years. He also announced an Employment Linked Incentive Scheme with a Rs. 1,00,000 crore (US$ 11.62 billion) outlay to support first-time private sector employees, expected to generate 3.5 crore jobs.
