Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurates diamond bourse, new airport terminal in Surat

On December 17, 2023 Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi officially opened the Surat Diamond Bourse during his visit to Gujarat. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 6.7 million square feet, will feature amenities such as international banking services, secure vaults, and a jewelry mall. Its establishment is anticipated to generate approximately 150,000 new employment opportunities. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new terminal building at Surat Airport, designed to accommodate 1,200 domestic passengers and 600 international passengers. The Surat Diamond Bourse is set to become the largest office space globally.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse, positioning it as a global hub for diamond and jewelry trade. The facility symbolizes India's design prowess and capabilities. He outlined government measures to boost the gem and jewelry sector, including support for green diamonds.

The Surat Diamond Bourse, set to become a major global hub, will feature a Customs Clearance House. Modi highlighted Surat's connectivity through its international airport, metro rail, and ports. He emphasized the positive global outlook towards India and the city's growing stature. The government aims to achieve a 5 trillion-dollar economy, with a roadmap for the next 25 years. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s  two-day visit also includes inaugurating Varanasi's second Vande Bharat train running between Varanasi and Delhi.
