Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth around US$ 1.43 billion (Rs. 12,100 crore) in Darbhanga, Bihar. These projects span the health, rail, road, petroleum, and natural gas sectors. Among the key initiatives is the establishment of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, which will provide advanced healthcare to Bihar and surrounding regions, including areas of West Bengal and Nepal. He highlighted the government's focus on improving healthcare infrastructure through initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and the establishment of new medical colleges, noting that US$ 14.82 billion (Rs. 1.25 lakh crore) have been saved by families under the scheme. He also emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare and early disease detection through initiatives such as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the government's push for cleaner living conditions through campaigns like Swachh Bharat.
In addition to health, significant investments were made in improving connectivity with new National Highway projects and railway infrastructure worth over US$ 924.6 million (Rs. 7,800 crore). These projects aim to boost regional development and enhance connectivity between Bihar and neighbouring states. He also laid the foundation for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network across five districts in Bihar, furthering the government’s commitment to clean energy. Other notable projects include a new eye hospital, a cancer facility in Muzaffarpur, and the establishment of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras across India. He congratulated the people of Bihar for their resilience and commitment to development, reaffirming the government's dedication to the state’s progress.
