Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, alongside Mauritius Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth, inaugurated the new Agaléga Islands airstrip in Mauritius and unveiled six community development projects, emphasizing the robust and enduring partnership between the two nations. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi reiterated Mauritius's significance as a crucial partner in India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy, highlighting the growing heights of cooperation.

The inaugurated projects aim to strengthen connectivity between mainland Mauritius and Agalega, bolster maritime security, and foster socio-economic development, reflecting the long-standing development partnership between India and Mauritius. Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth expressed profound gratitude for India's continuous support, recognizing the special consideration given to Mauritius. Mauritius is poised to be the first country to join India’s Jan Aushadhi initiative, showcasing the expanding collaboration. These initiatives follow the launch of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay Card services in Mauritius on February 12, underscoring the momentum in bilateral ties.
