Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi says Andhra Pradesh can become growth engine for Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said Andhra Pradesh has the potential to emerge as a key growth engine for Viksit Bharat as he inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs. 17,900 crore (US$ 1.88 billion) in Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district. Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the multi-sectoral projects spanning airport infrastructure, road connectivity and energy security reflected the rapid pace of development in the state and would contribute to the vision of Swarna Andhra. He stated that the newly inaugurated Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport would boost tourism, trade, investment and employment while creating new opportunities for North Andhra. Highlighting India's aviation progress, he noted that the number of operational airports had increased from 74 in 2014 to 166 and added that the second phase of the UDAN scheme had been launched with an investment of Rs. 29,000 crore (US$ 3.05 billion) to further strengthen regional air connectivity.

The Prime Minister said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government, led by Chief Minister Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Kalyan, was accelerating Andhra Pradesh's development through major investments in transport, manufacturing and clean energy. He noted that railway projects worth nearly Rs. 1 lakh crore (US$ 10.51 billion) were under implementation, while the state's railway network had been fully electrified and more than 70 railway stations were being modernised. He also highlighted plans to strengthen the Blue Economy through port modernisation, expand multimodal connectivity under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, and develop a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Visakhapatnam. Referring to investments in artificial intelligence, data centres, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals, the Prime Minister said these initiatives would strengthen the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER) and help transform it into one of Asia's leading economic hubs. He added that projects worth nearly Rs. 2 lakh crore (US$ 21.02 billion) had been launched during his last three visits to Andhra Pradesh, reaffirming the Government's commitment to strengthening manufacturing, boosting exports, creating employment and advancing the twin goals of Swarna Andhra and Viksit Bharat.
