Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi stated that the Centre has incorporated the principle of “Power to Empower” into its governance approach and work culture while addressing the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi. India’s progress is rooted in collective growth and shared opportunities, with digital power emerging as a key driver of transformation and opening greater opportunities for the country. India’s economic growth is supported by strong fundamentals amid global uncertainty, with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growing by 7.8% in Q1 FY27. Foreign exchange reserves exceed Rs. 66.53 lakh crore (US$ 700 billion), and the banking system is in its strongest position in many decades. The country’s reform agenda continues to advance, supported by technology-led development and economic transformation.

India’s progress reflects an approach that promotes inclusive growth and international cooperation. The country is home to more than 2,000 Global Capability Centres (GCCs), which provide services to companies worldwide. Technology, data, knowledge and innovation have emerged as important sources of power in the twenty-first century, with India seeking to use its capabilities to create opportunities for other countries. The country has more than 100 languages, around 80,000 registered newspapers and publications, and over 1,000 satellite television channels. India has also lifted 25 crore people out of poverty over the past decade. Its startup ecosystem has expanded significantly since 2014, with the number of startups crossing 2,50,000. Nearly half of these startups are based in smaller cities and towns, while more than 45% have at least one-woman director or partner, reflecting the growing reach of entrepreneurship across regions and greater participation of women in business.
