Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, marking the start of three days of industry engagement, high-level discussions and technology showcases focused on India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. The fifth edition of the event, being held from September 17 to 19, will be organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI, the global industry association representing the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing ecosystem. With the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,” the event will bring together global semiconductor companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, academia, startups and students. More than 600 exhibitors, including 300 international companies, will participate across 15,000 square metres of exhibition space, alongside more than 150 speakers, six country pavilions and 12 state pavilions.
SEMICON India 2026 will showcase India's capabilities across the semiconductor value chain, from materials and manufacturing to advanced packaging, chip design, electronics and systems. The event will feature a dedicated Startup Pavilion showcasing around 40 startups, along with an Innovation Showcase, Student Hackathon and Workforce Development Pavilion. Under the Semicon India Programme, the government has approved 12 semiconductor projects, with three projects under Semicon 1.0 having commenced commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0 to accelerate ecosystem development. Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools have been made available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 startups, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme. The global semiconductor market, valued at around Rs. 75.13 lakh crore (US$ 796 billion) in 2025, is projected to surpass Rs. 188.76 lakh crore (US$ 2 trillion) by 2030, while India's semiconductor demand is estimated to increase from around Rs. 4.72 lakh crore (US$ 50 billion) to Rs. 9.72 lakh crore (US$ 103 billion) by 2030. The event is expected to strengthen technology partnerships, investment, innovation and supply-chain linkages, supporting India's emergence as a trusted global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing hub.
