Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has exhorted that the Union and State Governments must move in a coordinated manner to shortlist 100 target sectors/products that need to be manufactured in India and help reduce India’s import dependence in this way and make India a resilient economy in line with its Viksit Bharat at 2047 vision. During the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s speech emphasized that there was a need for a strong National Manufacturing Mission (NMM) that would ensure Ease of Doing Business in sectors like land, utilities, and infrastructure, and tap the service sector fast. The initiative was announced under Union Budget 2025-2026 and has been allocated a budget of Rs. 100 crore (US$ 12 million) and plans to provide jobs for 22 lakh persons, a turnover of Rs. 4 lakh crores (US$ 4.8 billion), and enhance exports more than Rs. 1.1 lakh crores (US$ 13.2 billion). Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has further stated that Make in India must be known in the world as zero defect and eco-friendly as India readies itself as a world manufacturing destination in this way.
In the agricultural and food sector, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi reiterated the potential of India becoming a food basket of the world through focused high value Agriculture, Dairy, Fisheries, and Exports. He referred to “PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana,” where 100 districts with low productivity have already been identified, and states should do diagnostics and reforms. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said the strength of the Indian demographic pattern should help create human capital by building a strong tourist sector and a quality talent pool through academia and industry interaction. He also asked states to prepare a 10 year roadmap with short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans compatible with global demands and national development plans.
