Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi welcomed French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron to India

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi welcomed the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, on his official visit to India from February 17–19, 2026. The Prime Minister acknowledged the enduring and globally important strategic alliance that exists between the two governments and expressed his belief that the visit would serve to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in diverse areas. Additionally, the visit demonstrates both nations’ commitment to sustaining the increasing frequency of high-level visits between their two countries and both countries’ commitment to advancing their respective mutual interests. This was President Macron’s fourth trip to India and highlighted both nations’ commitment to enhancing their cooperative relationship in a changing global environment. 
During their time together in Mumbai, the two leaders will have extensive talks to see how much progress has been made through the India-France Strategic Partnership Agreement and to find new areas to work together. Some of the main discussions will likely include Defence Cooperation, Advanced Technology Development, Innovation and Clean Energy, as well as other important issues both regionally and globally. The visit will also look to increase trade and investment opportunities, continuing to build upon their economic understanding and cooperation. Additionally, this visit marks the start of the India-France year of innovation 2026, which is focused on promoting collaboration in emerging and cutting-edge technologies. Overall, this will strengthen the existing comprehensive strategic partnership and create new opportunities for continued co-operation between India and France.
