In a meeting between Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, both expressed great optimism about India's growing leadership in artificial intelligence. The Prime Minister was delighted to have heard from Microsoft about its historic announcement of the most significant investment ever made in Asia, to be made in India, and to have recognized the country as a leading innovation centre for future digital transformation and advanced technologies. The Prime Minister re-emphasized that the world view about the capabilities that India possesses in AI continues to become increasingly positive, and specifically noted how this can be leveraged by the young people of India to drive innovation and to develop solutions for many of the complex challenges facing our planet today, and to create a more sustainable future for themselves.
Satya Nadella announced an investment of US$ 17.5 billion to improve and develop India's AI Workforce and infrastructure, making this the most significant single commitment from an international Tech company to India's digital future. The investment will be used to accelerate the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, build a comprehensive cloud and data infrastructure across the country, and create national-scale skills-training programs to equip millions of students and workers with AI skills. India's partnership with Microsoft will further enhance India's global leadership in AI technology, innovation, investment, and talent participation for decades to come.
