Railways gave 350,000 jobs since 2014, hiring for 140,000 underway: Mr. Vaishaw

According to Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Indian railways has generated employment for about 350,204 people between 2014 and 2022 and a recruitment drive for 1.4 lakh more is currently under way.

Indian Railways is a large organisation and vacancies continue to arise as a result of retirement, resignation, death, etc., and they are filled continuously via the placement of indents by the Railways with employment agencies in accordance with operational needs, said Mr. Vaishnaw.

In addition to filling regular job vacancies, employment is also generated through contracting out non-core activities and working on initiatives which are not permanent in nature, according to Mr. Vaishnaw
