At the Expo site, which covers 4.3 square kilometres and cost US$ 6.8 billion to build, over 190 countries have pavilions up and running. One of the most popular pavilions at Expo 2020 has been the India Pavilion. The American Institute of Architects has named it "One of the Most Iconic" among the participating countries. The pavilion, with a display area of 4000-square metres, is one of the largest at the Expo. Hundreds of business meetings, cultural events, and bilateral and multilateral summits held at the India pavilion over the last six months have highlighted the rising potential in the country's fast-growing US$ 3 trillion economy. Overall, India's soft power has been on display in a spectacular fashion.
FICCI has organised a number of meetings between states and Indian and international enterprises. Over 107 Memorandums of Understanding/Letters of Intent for investments in the participating nations have been signed-in the recent six months. Over 319 business-to-government meetings, 39 government-to-government bilateral and multilateral engagements, and over 1,500 business-to-business meetings have taken place in the Indian Pavilion. In India's developing economy, start-ups play a critical role. India currently has the world's third-largest start-up ecosystem. With its Elevate series, the India Pavilion has also served as a start-up hub, with over 300 young Indian entrepreneurs pitching for funding from global venture capital firms. Twelve rounds of pitches have already taken place on the Elevate platform in the India Pavilion.
