Digital Connexion, a collaborative effort between Reliance Industries led by Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Canada's Brookfield, and US-based Digital Realty, has inaugurated its inaugural data center in Ambattur, Chennai. The facility commences operations with a processing capacity of 20 megawatts (Mw), with plans to scale up to an impressive 100 Mw, positioning it among the largest data centers in India. Digital Connexion is also strategizing the establishment of a 40 Mw data center in Mumbai, as disclosed by a company executive to Business Standard.

The initial phase of the data center, MAA10, is equipped with a 20 Mw information technology (IT) load and incorporates a flexible design that enables clients to tailor their infrastructure according to diverse workload demands, accommodating both single cabinet requirements and multi-megawatt necessities. CEO of Digital Connexion, Mr. C.B. Velayuthan, emphasized the commencement of work on the second phase, with aspirations to expand the capacity to 100 Mw. Ambattur was chosen as an ideal location due to its ample power supply, numerous submarine cable landing stations in the vicinity, and the state government's vision to position Chennai as India's premier data center hub.
