The Ministry of Culture is advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by positioning India's cultural sector as a key driver of economic growth, social unity, and global influence. The strategy is structured around five core pillars: preserving India’s 10,000-plus years of heritage, democratising cultural participation, integrating technology in arts and culture, strengthening the cultural and creative economy, and establishing India as a global cultural leader. Efforts are focused on conservation, inclusive accessibility, technological advancements, and expanding cultural industries such as performing arts, crafts, and culinary heritage. This approach enhances India's soft power and contributes significantly to the national economy by generating employment and fostering cultural tourism.
A structured roadmap, with clear timelines and responsibilities, ensures the effective execution of these initiatives. The Ministry integrates technology to preserve cultural assets, establish a digital heritage repository, and improve visitor engagement at cultural sites. As part of this strategy, 20 Kalagrams will be set up nationwide, following the successful model of the Prayagraj Kalagram during Mahakumbh Mela 2025. These cultural hubs will support artists, promote traditional arts, and drive economic opportunities in the creative sector. Through these initiatives, the Ministry of Culture is aligning its efforts to ensure that India’s rich heritage plays a central role in transforming into a global cultural powerhouse by 2047.
