Rs. 3,392.98 crores sanctioned for 145 projects under North-East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) from 2017-23

Since the inception of the North-East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) w.e.f. 2017-18 to 2022-23, a total cost of US$ 410.68 million (Rs.3,392.98 crores) has been sanctioned for 145 projects.

The NESIDS-approved projects from the past 5 years are at various levels of completion, and the distribution of funding to states for these projects is contingent on the speed with which implementing agencies implement utilization certificates of prior releases, etc. In order to hasten the completion of the ongoing projects and the submission of utilisation certificates, regular follow-up with State and Central Ministries was conducted.

Some of the ongoing projects like the construction and upgradation of glory peak tourist road under Phek district were launched in FY22 with a total cost of US$ 3.93 million (Rs 32.50 crore). In addition, some of the other notable projects are the implementation of educational infrastructure related to IT projects in 190 schools across Nagaland, the construction of a road from Shillong city to Umroi Airport under Ri-Bhoi district (Length: 14.279 KM) at a cost of Rs. 50.00 crores, and improvement including widening of Agia Medhipara Phulbari Tura Road (Portion from 67/600 to 100/200 Km 32.60 Kms) at an estimated cost of Rs. 66.54 crores.
