Saras sales touch record high at the 41st India International Trade Fair, did a business of over Rs. 6 crore (US$ 734,664)

The Saras Aajeevika Mela 2022 ended today, shattering all previous records with a revenue generated of more than Rs. 6 crore (US$ 734,664) in the previous 14 days. The SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2022, organised by the Ministry of Rural Development and National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) at the 41st India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, featured the finest handicraft and handloom products from the remote areas of rural India.

More than 300 artisans took part in the exhibition and displayed their goods at about 150 booths. These stalls featured handicraft, handloom, and natural food items from various rural areas across the nation, displayed by about 300 women from self-help groups from 26 states.

One of the most prestigious government initiatives, the renowned SARAS Aajeevika Mela, which focuses on the theme of "tradition, art, craft, and culture," not only showcases the best of cultural heritage, but also tells the tale of rural women who don the hat of an entrepreneur on a platform at the national level.

The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission [DAY-NRLM], Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, has launched the SARAS Mela to provide rural women SHG members formed under DAY NRLM with a venue to display their talents, sell their goods, and establish connections with potential market participants at a reasonable price.
