Science should be aimed at making India self-reliant: Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi

Addressing the Indian Science Congress (ISC), Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi stated that the scientific community of India should work at making the country ‘aatmanirbhar’ or ‘self-reliant’. He added, the development of science could be aimed at fulfilling India’s needs, which should also be the inspiration for the scientific community of India. He further asked the community to help in making India’s growing energy needs successful and to put efforts into the field of innovations.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi asserted that India is using scientific means for progress, the impact of which is clearly visible and further added, India’s rank in the global innovation index jumped from 81 to 40, out of a list of 130 countries.

The Prime Minister also expressed that the attempts made in the field of science can turn into big achievements when they step out of the lab to reach the ground, when their impact ranges from global to grassroots, and when the changes are visible in research as well as real life.
