Share of exports of goods and services in GDP increased to 21.4% in 2021-22 from 18.7% in 2020-21

Exports of goods and services as a percentage of GDP climbed from 18.7% in 2020-21 to 21.4% in 2021–22. In 2021-22, India’s export of goods and services was at Rs. 50,63,885 (US$ 639.60 billion) whereas the GDP was at Rs. 2,36,64,637 (US$ 2.98 trillion). India had seen the highest growth in exports in 2021-22 at 36.7% and India’s growth in GDP was at 19.5%.

The sector-specific share of goods exports in the yearly GDP (at current prices) for the past five fiscal years has climbed from 10.9% in 2020-21 to 13.3% in 2021-22. Regarding the sector-specific percentage of goods exports in the annual GDP, engineering goods contributed the most at 3.53%, followed by petroleum products at 2.13%, gems and jewellery at 1.23%, organic and inorganic chemics at 0.93% and drugs and pharmaceuticals at 0.78%.
