Siemens Healthineers, IISc opens AI lab for precision medicine
Siemens Healthineers and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have inaugurated the Siemens Healthineers-Computational Data Sciences (CDS) Collaborative Laboratory for AI in Precision Medicine at IISc Bangalore. The laboratory, backed by Siemens Healthineers' corporate social responsibility initiative, will focus on developing open-source AI tools for automating the precise segmentation of pathological findings in neuroimaging data. This initiative aims to enhance the accurate diagnosis of neurological diseases and analyze their clinical impact at a population level.
As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Siemens Healthineers is supporting the collaboration by offering six M.Tech fellowships for women. This initiative is designed to boost female representation in artificial intelligence. Mr. Chief Technology Officer at Siemens Healthineers, Mr. Peter Schardt emphasized the collaboration's significance in advancing precision medicine through AI, leveraging IISc's academic excellence and Siemens Healthineers' expertise in medical imaging. The collaborative efforts are expected to yield smart solutions contributing to precise diagnoses and evidence-based treatments, ultimately aiming to save lives.
This collaborative venture underscores Siemens Healthineers' commitment to cutting-edge research and social responsibility, utilizing AI to address critical aspects of neuroimaging and healthcare.
