Significant reforms implemented in past 11 years to boost mining sector: Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Mr. Gangapuram Kishan Reddy

Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Mr. Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, on June 7, 2025, highlighted the significant reforms undertaken by the central government over the past 11 years to advance the mining sector while ensuring sustainable development, public welfare, and environmental protection. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Indian Bureau of Mines in Jaipur for seven-star and five-star rated mines, He emphasised the adoption of modern technology to promote sustainable mining practices. He urged stakeholders to dispel misconceptions about the sector and prioritise the safety and welfare of mine workers, reinforcing the government’s commitment to balancing economic growth with social responsibility.
Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, underscored the importance of a balanced approach between mining activities and environmental conservation. He noted that Rajasthan registered a record 24% rise in royalty collection last year, reflecting robust sector growth. The state, rich in 57 types of metallic and non-metallic minerals including iron and gold, contributes 12% to India’s total mineral production value. He reaffirmed the state government’s zero-tolerance stance against illegal mining and extended an open invitation to entrepreneurs to invest in Rajasthan’s transparent and rapidly advancing mining industry, promising full government support for sustainable and responsible development.
