Singapore-based fintech company Aleta Planet, which specialises in cross-border and multi-currency payment solutions, is preparing to expand its operations into India as part of its broader regional growth strategy. The company’s Founder and Group Chairman, Mr. Ryan Gwee, said Aleta is keen to collaborate with licensed entities in India to establish plug-and-play issuance, payment and compliance infrastructure for Visa debit cards. According to the company, this infrastructure can help partners launch Visa debit card programmes within days, enabling faster market entry and greater flexibility for financial institutions and businesses. Aleta views India as a significant growth opportunity due to its large and rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem, as well as the strong economic and workforce connections between India, Singapore and the Middle East, where the company already maintains operations. To support its India expansion plans, Aleta has appointed a senior director focused on Indian accounts and partnership development.
The company intends to replicate its Singapore partnership model in India through collaborations with Visa and Japan-based Sanrio. As part of this strategy, Aleta plans to introduce exclusive Sanrio-themed Visa debit and prepaid cards featuring globally recognised characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Kuromi. The collectable cards are designed to appeal to a broad demographic audience and strengthen customer engagement through branded financial products. Aleta will launch 9,000 physical and virtual Sanrio-themed Visa debit cards on June 22, 2026. The move coincides with growing Sanrio activity in India, including the launch of the country’s first Hello Kitty store by AZORTE, a premium fashion format of Reliance Retail, and Sanrio’s establishment of its first office in Mumbai.
