State Bank of India’s Managing Director Mr. Swaminathan Janakiraman has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India

The government has appointed Mr. Swaminathan Janakiraman as a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years from the date of joining, as informed by Reuters.
Mr. Swaminathan Janakiraman, currently the Managing Director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI), will succeed Mr. Mahesh Kumar Jain, whose tenure ends on June 22, 2023.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar Jain was appointed as a Deputy Governor in June 2018 for three years. He was re-appointed in June 2021 for a further two-year period. He is in-charge of the department of supervision, financial inclusion and development, consumer education, and protection among others.
