Survey of India to Host National Workshop on Strengthening of Geospatial Ecosystem “Geospatial Mission: An Enabler of Viksit Bharat”

The Survey of India (Department of Science and Technology) will host a National Workshop on Strengthening the Geospatial Ecosystem (Geospatial Mission: An Enabler of Viksit Bharat) on 17 December 2025, at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. The workshop will be attended by many stakeholders, including policymakers, technologists, industry leaders, and domain experts, who will discuss policy, innovation, and the institutional framework shaping India's geospatial future. This workshop has special significance in light of the announcement of the National Geospatial Mission in the Union Budget 2025-26, which demonstrates the government's commitment to integrating advanced geospatial technologies across key sectors, including urban development, infrastructure, and environmental monitoring. 

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of Earth Sciences, and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony for this event. During the course of this workshop, there will be many interactive sessions covering topics such as: Modernization and Strengthening of the National Geodetic Reference Frame; Enhancing the Geospatial Data and Mapping Infrastructure; and The Role of Standards to Harmonize Geospatial Frameworks. There will also be discussions about how the Geospatial Industry must adapt quickly to rapid technological growth. Some of the areas affected most by this technology growth are Data Acquisition, Processing & Analytics. In addition, Emerging Digital Technologies are among the areas of rapid growth, creating New Opportunities in the Geospatial World.
